Not every idea needs a custom build. Some need a simple website. Some need an iOS app. Some should stay a spreadsheet a little longer. Here is how we think about that decision at JC App Solutions, for commercial teams and individuals alike.

Start with the job, not the platform

An app on a phone is the right answer when the work happens away from a desk, on a schedule, or with repeated actions that benefit from native speed and presence. A website is often enough when the job is explaining an offer, collecting interest, or giving people a clear place to start, without installing anything.

We build both. The same standards apply: purpose first, modern tech, and an interface that is easy to use. If a screen does not help, it does not ship.

When custom iOS is worth it

A custom iOS app tends to make sense when:

  • Your users already live on iPhone for the workflow you care about
  • Offline or on-the-go use matters more than a browser bookmark
  • The product needs focused, repeated interactions, not a brochure
  • Existing off-the-shelf tools keep missing the niche (crew life, a specific commercial process, a personal tool with real constraints)

Custom does not mean “build everything.” It means build the slice that removes the friction generic software keeps leaving behind.

When a small website is the smarter move

A focused website is often the right first product when you need a credible presence, a clear story, and a path to contact or consult, before investing in app-store distribution. Many projects should start there. Others stay there permanently, and that is fine.

The same care we put into apps goes into websites: clean layout, strong contrast, and flows that respect people’s time.

Stage-based pricing, on purpose

We do not ask you to fund an entire build on day one. You pay for the stage you are in. Consultation is free for iOS apps and websites. If we both want to go further, a preliminary draft is the next paid step, $150 for an iOS app draft, $50 for a website draft, so you get a rough blueprint of how the product would function before committing to planning and building.

Planning and building is scoped to the project: for iOS, that stage is typically a range of $200–$1,000 depending on size; for websites, $50–$500 for a typical site. Testing and launch are project dependent (in some cases $0, or any fees imposed by third-party APIs). Exact figures are agreed in the free consultation before paid work begins. Full stage detail lives on our pricing section.

That philosophy is intentional. Early ideas change. Stage-based work keeps the door open to change direction without pretending a vague pitch is already a finished product.

How a project actually runs

  1. Free consultation: fit, realism, and later-stage prices discussed openly
  2. Preliminary draft: paid blueprint: APIs and resources, scale, features, storage, server use
  3. Planning & building: only after you agree with the draft
  4. Initial testing: confirm the first working version
  5. Launch: ship when you are ready

JC App Solutions is based in the United States and works remote-friendly. Commercial teams and individuals use the same process.
